If I was perfectly comfortable with building single-page apps, what does migrating to server components actually do for me? Would it cost more? What could it actually do that wasn't possible before? And why was React going in this more complicated direction? So I tried it, porting my SPA Firebase app to RSC to see what happened. This talk is the result, warts and all, what was better, what wasn't, what it meant for performance and cost, and how much of Firebase's traditionally client-focused services can be used in the server.
