Today every developer is using LLMs in different forms and shapes, from ChatGPT to code assistants like GitHub CoPilot. Following this, lots of products have introduced embedded AI capabilities, and in this workshop we will make LLMs understandable for web developers. And we'll get into coding your own AI-driven application. No prior experience in working with LLMs or machine learning is needed. Instead, we'll use web technologies such as JavaScript, React which you already know and love while also learning about some new libraries like OpenAI, Transformers.js

Frontend applications are getting more and more complicated, often delivering far more than just a UI. With this growing complexity comes a growing need for knowledge from the developers creating it, as they have to deal with matters like state-management, authorization, routing and more. In this talk, I'll show you how to use GraphQL in your Next.js application to create a data layer for your application, that exists between your frontend and your backend. In this data layer, you can handle complex matters to help you to keep your frontend application clean and "stupid".

A hands-on workshop about handling authentication and authorization in GraphQL. During this 3 hour workshop you’ll learn how to add authentication to a GraphQL server using JWTs, and handle query responses with user roles. GraphQL is a query language for APIs, but what if your API doesn't support GraphQL? There's a lot of information on how you can use GraphQL to make your APIs more readable or even more content on using GraphQL as a data layer for your existing APIs. This all makes perfect sense, but what if you actually want to know how to transform existing services to GraphQL? In this talk I'll demonstrate how you can use your existing services to create GraphQL schemas using Abstract Syntax Trees and TypeScript.This is not a talk to show how to wrap services with GraphQL, in this talk I'll show data models to use an AST to transform existing services to GraphQL. A lot has changed in the world of state management in React the last few years. Where Redux used to be the main library for this, the introduction of the React Context and Hook APIs has shaken things up. No longer do you need external libraries to handle both component and global state in your applications. In this workshop you'll learn the different approaches to state management in the post-Redux era of React, all based on Hooks!
