The European Accessibility Act (EAA) is now the new normal, but for many organizations, the real work is only beginning. As we move through 2026, companies across Europe are trying to understand what the law means for their websites and digital products, and what can happen if they do not follow the rules.
In this session, we’ll go beyond the basics of EAA compliance and look at the legal risks of inaccessible websites and applications. We’ll explore how the EAA connects to WCAG, how the rules can be enforced, and why accessibility is becoming an important legal, financial, and reputational topic for organizations. We’ll also look at accessibility lawsuits and common problems that can put companies at risk. This includes inaccessible websites, online shops, forms, navigation, and other digital experiences that create barriers for people with disabilities. Finally, we’ll connect the legal requirements to the development process. We’ll discuss what developers and engineering teams can do to reduce risk, show that accessibility is being taken seriously, and build accessibility into the way digital products are created and maintained.
By the end, you’ll have a better understanding of the EAA, the risks of non-compliance, and how developers can help their organizations stay compliant and build better experiences for everyone.
