Hi there, everybody. My name is Kelly Goss. I am a systems process and automation consultant, and I run a company called Solver. We are a consultancy based in the UK. We help businesses all around the world to become more productive with no-code tools that include automation, workflow automation builders like Zapier, as well as generative AI with ChatGPT and other AI-related tools.
So thank you to GitNation for hosting this workshop today. What I'm going to be talking about is a really exciting topic. Well, I love this topic. It's all about generative AI and how we can use that with automation, workflow builders like Zapier to make life way more productive. So the main thing that I want to be covering today, ultimately, is I'm going to give you an overview of the Zapier platform, tell you what that's all about, so that if you've never used Zapier before whatsoever, you can have a little bit more insight into what it's all about, what the platform does. And then I want to show you some basic things about how you can automate daily tasks within your work role, or if you're coming here listening because you have your own business, to do the same thing, but it's all about productivity ultimately.
So I'll give you some oversights around the Zapier platform and how you use it, some of the features and functionality, tips and tricks. But what I also want to be showing you is some of the AI features that Zapier has built into it that really is going to make you get a lot more productive with your actual automation building. So, you know, automation is about productivity. AI now in automation is helping you actually be more productive with the things that you have to do to build the automations and how that's going to help you if you're not a coder. I'm not a coder, I'm a no-coder, so I've learned how to use this platform and so can you. And then what we're actually going to talk about is more of those specific AI features within Zapier, and I want to give you some examples and use cases of how you can actually use the platform. And then I just want to build on that by showing you some other things that are really going to help you with building your automations.
I guess the first question is, what is Zapier? So the way I like to think about Zapier is that it is a connector tool. So if you think about all the different applications that you use in your work role or in your business, if you run a business, you might have, let's say MailChimp, you might have Google Drive, you might have Slack, you might have a whole variety and plethora of different cloud-based tools that you use for your work role. And what Zapier actually allows you to do is it allows you to connect all of those different tools together and to be able to then create a step-by-step workflow that you build yourself in a drag and drop editor and be able to link those tools together to perform different actions based on an actual trigger happening.
So, for example, if a new form is submitted through a website form, that's our trigger, we would then might want to take that information that's submitted in that website form and then add it to MailChimp. We might want to add that person as a subscriber into MailChimp, and we might then want to add them to an automated sequence within MailChimp, for example. So the trigger is where the form is being submitted and the actions are creating that subscriber within MailChimp and then doing whatever you want to do with them, adding a tag, adding them to a journey, whatever the case may be, those are the actions. So Zapier really sits as a kind of connector tool between the different tools that you might be using on a daily basis, and it allows us to build this automated workflow that we can then automate all of these different things that we might be doing manually and repetitively normally.
To start out with, I just wanted to show you, this is the Zapier app directory, and as you can see, Zapier integrates with almost 8,000 different apps. So again, these are some examples here, we've got Google Sheets, Gmail, Slack, Google Calendar, MailChimp, Google Forms, you know, thousands and thousands as we can see here. What Zapier also has is also some built-in tools that help you as somebody who is not a developer and not a coder to be able to easily format data and do different things like add in conditional logic, send emails and a whole lot of things to help you to build these workflows that you're gonna build out. So some of these examples are here, webhooks by Zapier, email by Zapier, et cetera.
