Jamstack frameworks are changing the way we build top-of-the-line experiences on the web. They are performant, secure and enable developers to build web apps faster than before. In this workshop, Nick DeJesus will walk you through what it's like to build an e-commerce site using NextJS, use-shopping-cart and theme-ui. You will learn how serverless functions with Netlify to help you make secure transactions and how to build accessible UI components that extend use-shopping-cart's abilities.

You will get knowledge about GitHub Actions concepts, like:- The concept of repository secrets.- How to group steps in jobs with a given purpose.- Jobs dependencies and order of execution: running jobs in sequence and in parallel, and the concept of matrix.- How to split logic of Git events into different workflow files (on branch push, on master/main push, on tag, on deploy).- To respect the concept of DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself), we will also explore the use of common actions, both within the same repo and from an external repo.

In this workshop, we will be building a testing environment for a pre-built application, then we will write and automate end-to-end tests for our serverless application. And in the final step, we will demonstrate how easy it is to understand the root cause of an erroneous test using distributed testing and how to debug it in our CI/CD pipeline with Thundra Foresight.

You will also learn how the principles of agile software development and domain driven design can help you build products quickly and cost-efficiently, and compete with existing solutions.

InfluxDB is an open source time series database that empowers developers to build IoT, analytics and monitoring software. It is purpose-built to handle the massive volumes and countless sources of time-stamped data produced sensors, applications and infrastructure.
This workshop showcases a fully functional sample application called IoT Center that is built on InfluxDB. This application demonstrates the capabilities of the InfluxDB platform to develop a JavaScript-enabled time-series-based application. It collects, stores and displays a set of values that include temperature, humidity, pressure, CO2 concentration, air quality, as well as provide GPS coordinates from a set of IoT devices. With this data stored in InfluxDB, the application can query this data for display as well as write data back into the database.
This hands-on workshop will show students how to install this open source code to learn how to query and write to InfluxDB using the InfluxDB JavaScript client, and gain familiarity with the Flux lang query language which is designed for querying, analyzing, and acting on time series data. And finally, collect and visualize performance data of the Node JS application.

Next.js is a compelling framework that makes many tasks effortless providing many out-of-the-box solutions. But when it comes to authentication and user security, it's our mission to make it reliable, secure, and efficient. In this workshop, we'll focus on different user authentication and session management approaches, starting from a custom authentication strategy (that we will build together), and ending learning how to identify and integrate the right auth provider (Auth0, Firebase, etc.) for any app.

In this interactive workshop, we will explore the use of advanced types to improve the safety and predictability of your TypeScript code. You will learn when to use types like unknown or never. We will explore the use of type predicates, guards and exhaustive checking to make your TypeScript code more reliable both at compile and run-time. You will learn about the built-in mapped types as well as how to create your own new type map utilities. And we will start programming in the TypeScript type system using conditional types and type inferring.
